Abstract

The origins of Pfizer's Company Transport plans have been driven by the company's wish to be a good neighbour, sound business reasons including its business growth and planning requirements by district councils. In the actual delivew of the plan the company has been working closely with, has had and needs the continuing close working relationship and support from:-

Central government in London (DETR) including ministers

The Govemment Office for the South Eastof England (GOSE)

Kent County Council (KCC)

Surrey County Council (SCC)

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA)

The District Authorities surrounding the sites - Dover District Council (DDC),

Canterbury City Council (CCC), Thanet Distdct Council (TDC) and~eigate and Banstead Borough Council (R&BBC)

We have also had close working relationships with other organisations in the development of our strategy including SUSTRANS (who are developing the national network of cycle routes in Britain), Stagecoach (a major bus operator) and Connex (the train operator for trains in this part of South East England).

The author would also like to thank John Whitelegg Associates who with senior management at Pfizer carded out the initial studies and set the ball rolling.
