Abstract

"l"he Oresund belt between Denmark and Sweden is a substantial barrier in the central Scandinavian area. The new fixed link across the Oresund opened the 1 st of July 2000 and may potentially involve a substantial change in the transport pattern in and around the region (see Figure 1). Changes that may influence both passenger and freight transport on all modes.

This paper seeks to assess the magnitude of the change in mobility and accessibility due to the fixed link. One type of model (for strategic mobility) has already been presented at the 1999 European Transport Conference. This paper focus on isolines (Isocrones and Isocost) as another type of model.

Following this introduction, chapter two gives a brief description of the modelling with regards to mobility and accessibility analysis. Chapter three gives an outline of the findings for traveltime whereas chapter four focus on the cost of travelling by road in the Oresund region and are followed by a conclusion and perspectives in chapter five.
