Navigating Away from Moving Observer Journey Times
Richard Fernandes, Atkins, Peter Krootjes, TomTom
A look into how using innovative data sources, like TomTom sat nav data can lead to more successful projects.
Any transport study can only strive to be as good as the data behind it, and so having reliable, robust and readily available data sources is the best foundation to any transport planning project. This paper considers the impact of readily available data sources, and focuses on an emerging form of journey time data - from GPS devices - and how it has improved the quality of evaluation projects conducted by Atkins.
