Description

The object of this work is to know the qualitative indicators of the practices of daily mobility among inhabitants of the periphery of Oran and to show the effect of the urban design of the metropolises on the disparities of displacements.

Abstract

Displacements of the individuals, goods and information constitute an essential social requirements for the metropolises characterised today by the extension of the urban forms. In the case study of Oran, know displacements of the periphery?s inhabitants is necessary taking into account the dispersion of these zones around the city and the difficulty of offering a fluid and comfortable transport. The metropolis of Oran is one of the large cities of Algeria which has profited, these last years, of programs of urban extension towards the east, multifamily apartments, etc. Which are the incidences associated with the residential localisation and employment on the modes and the rates/rhythms of daily displacements of inhabitants in the periphery? there is a deficit of mobility because of the constraints of accessibility due to an absence of management holding account of the qualitative criteria of mobility. The object of this work is to know the qualitative indicators of the practices of daily mobility among inhabitants of the periphery and to show the effect of the urban design of the metropolises on the disparities of displacements. The constraints of accessibility and the absence of a suitable management of flows cause a deficit of mobility and inequalities of displacements among inhabitants of the periphery. The objective of this work is to know the constraints of accessibility of the inhabitants of the periphery then to compare between pedestrian and automobile flow taking account the following elements: localisation, the modal split and socio-economic characteristics.

In first, we present the theoretical framework relating to mobility by a bibliographical research. In addition, it will be presented the study of the urban expansion and more precisely the physical form of the urban design. It is a question of the mobility's practised according to a first qualitative investigation conceived and applied to a 30 households for the towns bordering the city of Oran: Bir El Djir, Es Senia, Sidi Chami, Mersa El Kebir and Messerghine. Then, these results allow knowing measurements of accessibility and inequalities of access through interpretation the disparities of the studied factors. In this work, it seemed convenient to present a critical study of the tools implemented for the management of flows and the activities in the metropolis. This work considers the needs and waiting of the users, in terms of transport and urban design. We try to formulate the indicators of mobility and accessibility of the inhabitants of the periphery holding account of the economic, social and environmental factors. This will allow the institution of a durable management of mobility.
