DSB Consult, Major Projects is working as main contractor on railway installations for the Great Belt Company Ltd. This means that DSB Consult is in charge of planning, designing, construction management, site supervision and commissioning of all the railway installations. This covers: tracks, catenary, control-command installations, SCADA supervision and commissioning of mechanical installations.
In the light of the directive 91/440 from the European Commission the Danish Railways has, as other railways, reorganised as to get into line with the intentions of the directive. DSB today consists of six enterprises. Five of them built up around various transport services (products). The sixth, DSB Infrastructure Management, is responsible for the infrastructure. This includes obtaining safety certification from Danish authorities.
DSB Consult is an independent organisation Within DSB Infrastructure Management and has 450 employees. DSB Consult is organised as a matrix organisation. Besides the basis organisation with 4 sectors, is a project organisation which handles major projects which have partly engineers and partly railway people working full time, but which also draw on the experience from the basis organisation. DSB Consult acts as adviser for all activities within the Danish State Railways. In the light &the mentioned directive concerning the development of the communities railways, the future plan is, that the department should be organised as an independent railway consultant
The division, Major Projects, is involved in construction of the large fixed links in Denmark. Major Projects is working on projects worth more than DKK 2 billions, including the railway installations on the Great Belt Link and the railway installations on the Danish side as well as on the Coast to Coast part of the Oresund Link. The original Great Belt contract amounts approx. 1.4 billidn DKK.
