Description

This presentation focuses on building and understanding what an ‘appropriate’ site looks like in terms of travel behaviour, based on existing survey information and travel planning best practice.

Abstract

The traditional aim of travel plans is to reduce car use, implying that all sites have significant levels of unnecessary car use. Instead of aiming to always reduce car use, increased focus should be on determining and agreeing what is a sustainable level of car use for a site.

This presentation focuses on building and understanding what an ‘appropriate’ site looks like in terms of travel behaviour, based on existing survey information and travel planning best practice. The aim is to enable practitioners to determine realistic travel profiles for both new and existing sites.
