Abstract

This paper describes how Intermittent Bus Lanes (IBL) are integrated with normal traffic control system to issue priority to bus movements along streets, and not just at intersections. An objective function and its relationships with IBL signals and other signals are formed. Finally some simulation results are presented, showing the large advantages for buses and small influences to general traffic flow when IBL signals are applied.
