Abstract

The paper describes the application of a new advanced traffic assignment model for joint route and sub-mode choices, e.g. different types of trains versus buses. The method is both time-table based - making it possible to model e.g. transfer times, hidden waiting times, delayes and possibility to get a seat - and stochastic -making it possible to model random variation and differences in passengers preferences towards cost and time (distributed coefficients in the utility function). Utility functions were estimated for different user classes on SP-data. In application, sampling within the method of successive averages solved the model.
